Hello 7th & 8th Grade Boys Lacrosse Players and Families,
As a tip for using this site, additional team information (schedule, roster, results, etc.) is accessed through the "Team" tab above, then select "Choose a Team" > "Boys League" >, then the desired team.
Hard to believe with this frigid weather, but lacrosse season is just around the corner. It is time for 7th and 8th grade lacrosse registration. This letter will outline the process for registration and provide some basic information about the Hanover/Norwich middle school lacrosse program.
PROGRAM OUTLINE:
The Friends of Hanover Lacrosse (FOHL) sponsors and runs The 7th and 8th grade lacrosse program in Hanover and Norwich. It is not part of Hanover Parks and Recreation. This organization provides fields, coaches, uniforms, schedules referees, games against other Upper Valley teams, and games in the New Hampshire Youth Lacrosse Association (NHYLA) league. Over the past years, our participation in NHYLA games has offered our boys a higher level of competition and opportunities to play against a wider field. NHYLA games are on Sundays, with probably four home games and four away games. Be aware that the NHYLA away games involve more travel time than the mid week “local” away games.
Based on participation numbers last year, we hope that we will have sufficient registrants to field two teams this year. In the past we have divided the teams in one of two ways: by grade or by tryout. We will likely enter one team in the NHYLA U15B division, and one team will play in the local league.
We are currently finalizing our practice schedule. The coaching staff is also still in the formative stages, but will be anchored by Clayton Simmers and Everett Logan.
There are some opportunities for indoor lacrosse this winter at KUA. We will provide the information as it evolves.
REGISTRATION:
The Friends of Hanover Lacrosse website is OPEN for registration. Registration will close Februaruy 22. This deadline is driven by the NHYLA deadlines for roster completion.
To register, you’ve got TWO things to do:
- Register your son with US Lacrosse at http://www.uslacrosse.org. Go to “Membership” and then “Join/Renew Membership.” US Lacrosse is the governing body of lacrosse; it trains the referees and coaches, writes the rules, and makes it all possible. We are insured through US Lacrosse, thus the need for every player to be a current member.
- With your son’s US Lacrosse number in hand, click the "Register Now" button on the Home page, or use the left side navigation, and register him for 7/8 boys lacrosse.
The cost for 7/8 Boys Lacrosse is $140 and is part of the registration process. That fee covers our NHYLA expenses, field rentals, referee payments, and equipment costs; a very small percentage is saved for a rainy day and the future. All of the coaches volunteer their time.
Please spread the word to any prospective players and their families. Registration information is also being sent out by the Marion Cross School and the Lyme and Strafford Schools.
If you have any questions, please contact Clayton Simmers at csimmers@yahoo.com.
